Bangalore, Aug 26: Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Shivraj Patil today said he would write a letter to the state government urging it to bring back the 1979 order where the investigating authority's permission was sought to reinstate
suspended officers.

"I will write a letter to the government asking it to bring back the 1979 order where the government had to take prior permission from the then investigating authority (Vigilance Commissioner) to reinstate suspended officers," he added.

Patil said there are as many as 95 cases pending for want of government sanction and added he would soon hold talks with the government to expedite the suspension process of indicted officers.

He also said as many as 18 MLAs and three MLCs had not declared their assets and their names would be published in newspapers if they didn't do it by September 1.

He also said he and his deputy Upalokayukta would visit 30 districts in the span of six months to hear grievances and give on-spot relief to people.

"I will be visiting Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar and Yadgir from September 12 to September 17," he informed.

"They (legislators) should have declared their assets by June end," he added.

Patil further said his department was mulling to send notices to government servants and others through e-mails to save time.
