Anna stir: Sandalwood actors take centre stage at Freedom Park

Bangalore, Aug 23: Even as anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare''s fast entered the eighth day today, support from various sections of people in Karnataka continued with film personalities staging a dharna at Freedom Park here.
Film artistes Priya Hasan, Basantkumar Patil and Nagathihalli took centre stage at Freedom Park demanding a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.
Addressing the gathering, Justice N Santosh Hegde, a member of the joint committee for drafting Jan Lokpal Bill and former Karnataka Lokayukta, said Anna Hazare''s health was a major concern and the Centre should intervene to solve the impasse over the bill.
Many students marched all the way from their respective colleges to Freedom Park shouting slogans and seeking support of the on-lookers for the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Marches were also held at various places in the city, including Basaveshwarnagar, Hebbal and Yelahanka by residents and different political parties.
To keep Anna Hazare''s torch of agitation alive, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry and its constituent associations has decided to hold march to Freedom Park on August 25.
