Bangalore, Nov 25:   The Energy and Resources Institute
Director General R K Pachauri today said the institute was
scouting for partners in the building sector who could adopt
green housing and accept Green Rating for Integrated Habitat
Assessment rating, a green building design evaluation system.
"There has been some notable success with the Indian
building sector coming forward to accept the rating systems
and importance of green buildings," he told reporters.
Green buildings can save up to 40 per cent energy and
bring down emissions, he said, speaking at a regional
conference on 'Innovations in Green buildings.'
Pachauri said there was a need for India to make a
technological shift in the wake of energy and water becoming
biggest challenges in future.
"There is a need to reduce use of energy in buildings and
emission of house gases," he said.
